Youth exchanges, academic ties strengthen India-China regional engagement

Strengthening educational, cultural and business ties between India and China, Consul General of India in Shanghai Pratik Mathur hosted Chen Zhuo, editor-in-chief of the South Asia Study newsletter at Fudan University, and Marco Beba, author of the recently published book Enduring Frameworks, at the Consulate General of India in Shanghai on June 8.

The interaction focused on contemporary developments in India, the evolving global landscape and the transformative role of emerging technologies and young leaders in shaping future international cooperation. Discussions also underscored the growing importance of academic exchanges, youth engagement and people-to-people connections in fostering greater mutual understanding between nations.



Chen shared her plans for an upcoming visit to India, expressing interest in deepening her understanding of the country's social, economic and cultural landscape. Beba highlighted his professional engagement with BASF and discussed India's increasing significance as a hub for business, innovation and investment opportunities.

The meeting reflected the expanding scope of India-China engagement beyond traditional diplomacy, emphasizing the role of scholars, young professionals and business leaders in building sustainable partnerships.

Concluding the interaction, Consul General Mathur wished both young scholars success in their academic and professional pursuits and reaffirmed the Consulate's commitment to promoting stronger educational, cultural and business linkages between India and China.
