Step-by-Step Photo Submission Guidelines
1) What to Submit
- Quantity: 10–15 photos (we’ll select the best).
- Resolution: High-res JPG or PNG, minimum 3000px on the long side.
- Orientation: Horizontal preferred for web/articles; include 5–10 verticals for social media.
2) Shot List to Cover
Wide (scene-setters):
- Exterior of venue with signage/decoration.
- Full view of hall/mandap during prep or rehearsal.
Medium (action shots):
- Volunteers arranging flowers, décor, rangoli.
- Artisans working on idol or props.
- Groups rehearsing dance/music.
Close-ups (details):
- Hands tying garlands, arranging prasad, lighting diya.
- Children drawing/painting or practicing.
- Faces with emotion—smiles, concentration, laughter.
Community focus:
- Seniors participating, families, kids (with consent).
- Posed and candid volunteer group shots.
- Key organizers leading or addressing.
Specials:
- Sponsor boards, banners, or partner logos.
- Accessibility (ramps, sign language, first aid desk).
- Sustainability efforts (eco-friendly décor, recycling stations).
3) Composition Tips
- Rule of thirds: subject off-center adds interest.
- Depth: foreground + background layers.
- Angles: mix low, eye-level, and overhead.
- Symmetry: center idols, rangolis, or décor for balance.
- Light: natural light is best; avoid harsh backlight unless intentional.
- No flash during rituals unless cleared.
4) People & Consent
- Always ask before close-ups, especially of children.
- For minors: written consent if face is clearly shown.
- Respect privacy in sacred or sensitive spaces.
5) File Handling
- Format: JPG/PNG, uncompressed if possible.
- File naming: pujo2025_volunteers01.jpg, pujo2025_idol_closeup.jpg.
- Captions: Each photo must have 1–2 line description: who/what/where/when.
- Credits: Format as Photo: /.
6) Contributor Info (Optional but Encouraged)
To highlight community participation, include:
- Your full name (as you want it published)
- Profile photo (high-res headshot)
- Short bio (30–50 words)
Example:
Rahul Sen is a volunteer photographer with The Greater Manchester Bengali community, passionate about documenting cultural heritage and festivals.
7) How to Submit
- Put photos in a single folder on Google Drive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer.
- Include a caption/credit sheet (Word/Google Doc or email body).
- Share the folder link with your name, mobile, and email for credit confirmation.
8) Acceptance Checklist (print/save)
- 10–15 photos, high-res JPG/PNG
- Mix of wide, medium, close-up, and candid
- Captions + credits prepared
- Consent confirmed for people featured
- Files named clearly and uploaded in one folder
- Contributor info (optional) included
