Guidelines Community Stories Submission
Share Your Community Story: Articles, Photos, and Videos Wanted
We want every community story to carry the voice of the person who tells it. Adding your name, photo, and a short bio makes the piece personal and authentic. It shows readers that these stories come from real people within the community, not just an organization. It also gives credit where it’s due—celebrating you as a contributor and encouraging others to step up and share their own stories.
To make things smooth, please follow these guidelines:
Articles
- Word count: 600–750 words.
- Style: Fact-based, clear, and accessible. Avoid exaggerated or unverifiable claims.
- Structure:
- Headline (≤70 characters, clear and specific)
- Intro (who, what, when, where, why and how)
- Body (preparations, programs, community impact)
- Quotes (2–3 on record with full names and titles)
- Closing (background and what’s new this year)
- Byline: Will carry your name as Volunteer Contributor.
Photos
- Quantity: 5–8 images.
- Format: High-resolution JPG/PNG, horizontal preferred, at least 3000px on the long side.
- Captions: Each photo must have a 1–2 line caption (who, what, where, when).
- Credits: Format as Photo: /.
- Consent: Please ensure consent, especially when photographing minors.
Video Packages
- YouTube: Over 4 minutes, horizontal (1080p). Should feel like a highlight package of the event—opening, key moments, and closing.
- Reels/Shorts: 15–30 seconds, vertical (1080x1920).
- Content:
- Establishing and prep shots
- Short interviews or soundbites (each under 1 minute)
- B-roll (idol arrival, rehearsals, cultural programs, community interactions)
- Closing with event details overlay
- Format: MP4 preferred; under 1GB per file.
- Submission: Upload raw clips or edited package via Google Drive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer. Name files clearly (e.g., pujo-prep-interview1.mp4). Include a short caption/description for each.
- Music: No copyrighted tracks. Licensed music or natural sound will be added during editing.
Contributor Info (Mandatory for Writers)
- Full name (as you’d like it published)
- Profile photo (high-res headshot, square format preferred)
- Short bio (30–50 words)
Example:
Ananya Roy is a volunteer with The Greater Manchester Bengali community, passionate about cultural heritage and youth engagement.
