Sewa International AmeriCorps wraps up summer camp
The summer camp provided hands-on STEM learning, leadership training and community service opportunities for young students.

Sewa International's Atlanta Chapter organized a four-week Sewa AmeriCorps Summer Camp, providing K–8 students with an engaging STEM learning experience in Atlanta, GA / Sewa International
Sewa International’s Atlanta chapter has concluded its 2026 Sewa AmeriCorps summer camp attended by 68 students between kindergarten and eighth grade.
The four-week camp program centered on STEM education, financial literacy, leadership development, civic engagement, and service-learning.
It was designed to help students maintain academic engagement during the summer while developing practical skills through hands-on learning.

The curriculum was organized around weekly themes, including STEM exploration, civic responsibility, financial literacy and leadership development. Participants took part in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) activities, collaborative projects, outdoor learning sessions and interactions with guest speakers.
According to Sewa International, the program encouraged students to strengthen problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork and social-emotional skills while fostering an understanding of community service.
“Our goal was to create an environment where children could continue learning, build confidence, and develop a spirit of service during the summer. Watching our campers grow academically, socially, and personally over four weeks was incredibly rewarding. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and compassion reflected the true purpose of the program,” said Varsha Chauhan, program director of Sewa International AmeriCorps, Atlanta.
The camp concluded with a ceremony featuring student presentations and demonstrations of projects completed during the program. Campers showcased science experiments, community-themed skits and engineering projects, including a solar-powered car, a mechanical hand and Newton's Pendulum. Students also demonstrated yoga practices they learned throughout the four-week session.
Sewa International recognized the contributions of its LEAD (Leadership, Education and Development) high school volunteers, AmeriCorps members, teachers and community partners that supported the camp. Those partners included Georgia Serves, local parks and recreation departments, Happy Helpings, MealsPro and other community organizations.
