Jayapal condemns deadly Seattle Center shooting
The shooting left three people dead and four others injured, including a 2-year-old child.

Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal condemned the deadly July 26 shooting at Seattle Center that killed three people and injured four others.
The Congresswoman who represents Seattle, said, "I am absolutely horrified by the shooting that took place Sunday evening at Seattle Center. My heart goes out to the victims and their families, and all those impacted by this senseless violence.”

Jayapal said she has been coordinating closely with Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson and has also been briefed by Seattle Police Department Chief Shon Barnes and Seattle Fire Department Chief Harold Scoggins.
"We will continue to do all we can to ensure all federal resources that are necessary are available," she said.
The shooting occurred around 6 p.m. during the annual Bite of Seattle festival near the Space Needle, where two people exchanged gunfire outside the Seattle Center Armory. According to Seattle police, seven people were struck by gunfire.
The victims who died were identified as a 19-year-old man, a 44-year-old man, and a 56-year-old woman. Four others were hospitalized and were reported to be in stable condition early July 27.
Jayapal also thanked first responders and frontline medical personnel for their efforts in responding to the shooting.
"I am grateful to the officers and first responders who were at the scene and working to protect our community, as well as the frontline medical professionals who are treating survivors," she said.
She added that officials would continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
"We grieve with our community in Seattle as well as those around the country affected by gun violence and mass shootings," Jayapal said.
One suspect was arrested at the scene, while investigators continue searching for another person believed to have been involved. Authorities have said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
