The Akanksha Foundation receives FIFA grant
The grant will help expand quality academics, arts and sports education for underserved children, fostering skills, confidence and opportunity.

The Akanksha Foundation has been selected as one of 31 community-based organizations across 18 countries to receive funding under the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
The nonprofit that provides quality education to children from low-income communities received the grant in the second round of the funding announced by FIFA.
The grants ranging from USD $50,000 to $250,000 were announced by Global Citizen and FIFA to ensure that the 2026 tournament leaves a transformative impact for children worldwide long after the final whistle.

With the latest round of funding, the initiative has now supported 58 organizations worldwide, with programmes expected to benefit more than 400,000 children. Total commitments raised for the fund have surpassed US$60 million, drawn from philanthropies, corporate partners, individual donors, and proceeds from ticket sales, including the historic World Cup Final and its inaugural Halftime Show.
The Akanksha Foundation, which partners with municipal governments to operate free public schools in India, said the grant would help it continue delivering high-quality academics, arts and sports education to children from underserved communities.
"Thanks to FIFA, Global Citizen and all our supporters for enabling us to continue creating opportunities for children from underserved communities through high-quality academics, arts and sports education, helping them build the skills and confidence to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty," the foundation said in a LinkedIn post.
According to Global Citizen, the second cohort included organizations working in regions where educational challenges remain acute, with many serving communities facing high poverty rates and low secondary school completion levels. The grants support programmes combining education, sport, health, nutrition and community engagement to improve long-term outcomes for children.
The FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund was launched in 2025 as a joint initiative to harness the global reach of football to improve educational opportunities worldwide. Alongside direct grants to grassroots organizations, half of the funds raised will also support FIFA's Football for Schools programme, which currently operates in more than 150 countries.
