An Indian-origin teenager was charged with murder on Aug. 12 after his mother and younger brother were found dead inside their Acton home in Massachusetts.
Arjun Aravind (17) was taken into custody in nearby Wayland and charged with the murder of his mother, 45-year-old Sudha Venkatesan, and his 14-year-old brother, Siddharth Aravind.

Acton police responded to the home on Martha Lane shortly after 6:37 p.m., Aug. 11, for a welfare check and found an adult woman and a teenage boy dead inside, the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office said.
Investigators found Siddharth on the first floor of the home and Venkatesan in the finished basement. Both had suffered apparent trauma, while the official causes and manners of death remain pending a determination by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Aravind was initially unaccounted for, but authorities found him after issuing an alert for him and the green Honda Accord that belonged to his mother. He is facing two murder charges, along with assault-related and motor-vehicle charges.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said investigators found that Aravind had recently used the internet and ChatGPT to search for theoretical ideas and fantasy stories involving the killing of his family. Authorities have described the activity as concerning behavior but have not said that the searches establish a motive for the deaths.
The investigation began after Aravind’s father contacted police because he was unable to reach his family. A tutor who arrived at the home earlier Tuesday for a scheduled appointment also received no response.
Police have not yet determined what weapon or weapons may have been involved. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
