"I am 100% American with Indian values": Rathi Ravi on identity and politics
From H-1B visa holder to county legislature candidate, Ravi says community service paved her path to politics.

When Rathi Ravi arrived in Western New York on an H-1B visa in 2002 as a computer engineer, she had not intended for politics to be a part of her journey.
Over the next two decades, she built a life, raised a family and became known in the region's Indian American community through cultural organizations, language education and nonprofit work.
Today, the Democrat is seeking to represent Erie County Legislature District 6, saying her campaign is a continuation of the work she has already been doing.
