The San Francisco Unicorns defeated the Seattle Orcas by six wickets at Grand Prairie on July 11 to secure a place in the Major League Cricket 2026 playoffs.

Chasing 191, the Unicorns reached 194/4 in 19 overs, with Finn Allen scoring 65 off 31 balls before Hassan Khan finished the chase with an unbeaten 36 off just 10 deliveries. Khan struck four sixes and two boundaries in a decisive late assault as the Unicorns completed the target with an over to spare.

Earlier, Seattle Orcas  recovered from a difficult start to post 190/7 after being sent in to bat. The Orcas lost Shayan Jahangir to a run out off the opening ball and Tim Seifert for 9 before Shehan Jayasuriya's quick 16 ended with the score at 34/3.

Matthew Breetzke then steadied the innings with Shimron Hetmyer in a 65-run fourth-wicket partnership. Breetzke made 55 from 29 balls, while Hetmyer contributed 36 before both were dismissed in the middle overs. Marcus Stoinis anchored the closing stages with 49 off 35 deliveries but fell in the final over, one run short of a half-century, as Cameron Gannon added 15 to help the Orcas reach 190/7. Xavier Bartlett returned figures of 2-36 for the Unicorns, while Peter Siddle and Brody Couch picked up one wicket each.

The Unicorns lost Lhuan-dre Pretorius early in the chase before Allen took control with three fours and six sixes. He shared an 81-run partnership with Matthew Short, who scored 43, to put the chase on track. However, quick wickets reduced the Unicorns to 155/4 after 17 overs, leaving 36 runs required from the final three overs.

Khan then shifted the momentum with an unbeaten 36 from 10 balls, guiding the Unicorns to victory alongside Aaron Hardie, who remained unbeaten on 5.

The result confirmed San Francisco's place in the MLC 2026 playoffs, while Seattle's defeat brought its campaign to an end.
