MIT elects Ruby Chandy as Trustee

She is one of 10 individuals named to three or five-year terms.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Corporation, the governing body of the institute, has elected Indian American executive Ruby R. Chandy as a full-term trustee, effective July 1. 

Chandy is one of 10 individuals named to three or five-year terms, Corporation chair Mark P. Gorenberg announced.

An alumna of MIT, Chandy is CEO of Philadelphia-based Luminas Advisory Services. She has over 20 years of experience on public company boards and currently serves as a director at DuPont de Nemours, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and Flowserve Corporation.

She previously served as president of the Industrial Division at Pall Corporation, overseeing a $1.3 billion global filtration business. Her earlier leadership roles include executive and marketing positions at Dow Chemical, Rohm and Haas, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Boston Scientific, and Millipore.

Chandy holds a bachelor’s degree in materials science and engineering from MIT, a master’s degree in the same field from Northwestern University, and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management. She also serves on the MIT Sloan Americas Executive Board and has participated in two MIT Corporation Visiting Committees.

With this election, the MIT Corporation will include 80 members as of July 1, including 24 life members and eight ex officio members.
