Chasing a target of 132 in a rain-affected match, MI New York made a steady start before a collapse triggered by Matthew Short and Hassan Khan left them struggling at 108/8. Trent Boult and Nosthush Kenjige guided the team through the final phase of the innings. Boult, who remained unbeaten on 22, hit two sixes in the 20th over to complete the chase with three balls remaining.
Earlier, San Francisco Unicorns were restricted to 131 in 19.3 overs. Boult and Kenjige made early inroads with the ball, reducing the Unicorns to 21/5 inside five overs. Xavier Bartlett scored 44 off 24 deliveries to help his side post a modest total. Rushil Ugarkar also contributed with the ball, taking 3 for 19.
