Air India announced on July 21 that it will begin operating nonstop flights between Delhi and Toronto from Aug. 1, deploying its new Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the route.
The new service will eliminate the current en route fuel stop in Vienna, subject to the availability of airspace, reducing the Delhi-Toronto journey by nearly three hours.
Flight time is expected to decrease from about 20 hours, including the fuel stop, to about 17 hours, while the return Toronto-Delhi service will continue to operate nonstop with a flying time of up to 16 hours.

Air India had temporarily reduced frequencies between June and July 2026, citing unprecedented fuel price increases and broader geopolitical developments that affected flight operations. The Delhi-Toronto route will be served by Air India's new line-fit Boeing 787-9 aircraft, featuring a three-class configuration with Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy cabins.
The deployment marks the first time Air India will offer its Premium Economy service on flights between Delhi and Toronto. The aircraft includes 30 Business Class suites, 28 Premium Economy seats and 238 Economy seats.
According to the airline, the upgraded aircraft feature fully flat Business Class suites with direct aisle access, a dedicated Premium Economy cabin in a 2-3-2 layout, updated Economy seats, next-generation inflight entertainment with more than 3,000 hours of content, Bluetooth audio connectivity, USB charging ports and AC power outlets. Other additions include mood lighting inspired by Indian wellness traditions and refreshed onboard dining, bedding and amenity kits.
