Eva Singh, an Indian-origin student at the University of Iowa, was honoured with leadership and academic honors from the university’s International Student and Scholar Services program.

Singh, a third-year computer science and engineering student from New Delhi, India, was selected as the undergraduate recipient of both the Campus Leadership Award and the Academics Award, according to a university announcement released May 5.

The Campus Leadership Award recognizes students for their impact through leadership, collaboration, and community involvement, while the Academics Award honors strong academic performance alongside rigorous coursework and broader campus engagement.

Singh has held leadership and service roles across multiple student organizations at the university. She serves as an international student ambassador through the Office of Admissions and has held officer positions with the Society of Women Engineers and the IEEE Iowa Chapter.

She has also contributed to the Debate Club, the Indian Student Alliance, and the South Asian Student Alliance.

In addition to the university honors, Singh was recently part of a University of Iowa engineering team that won first place in an ethics case competition at the IEEE Nexus Region 4 conference in Chicago.

The team – comprising Tayla Lovan, Lydia Pauley, and Singh – competed against participants from universities across nine states and two countries at the engineering conference, which focuses on research, entrepreneurship, and professional ethics.

Teams were presented with a real-world ethical dilemma without advance preparation. The University of Iowa team, named “LEThics,” addressed issues involving intellectual property ownership, professional transparency, and conflict of interest using the IEEE Code of Ethics as the foundation for its presentation.

The team received a trophy and a $750 prize for the win.

Outside the classroom, Singh is also gaining industry and research experience. She has been working as an Emerging Technologies Intern at Musco Lighting since May 2025, where she develops software solutions and internal tools supporting emerging technology initiatives.

Her work includes building full-stack applications and APIs and applying data analysis and machine learning concepts in collaboration with engineering teams.

Singh is pursuing a bachelor of science in engineering in computer science and engineering at the University of Iowa, along with a certificate in artificial intelligence, simulation, and modeling. She graduated from Delhi Public School - R.K. Puram.
