The India Philanthropy Alliance, which is gearing up to host its fourth annual India Giving Day on March 13, announced that the 2026 event will feature 51 vetted nonprofit organizations working across multiple sectors in India.

India Giving Day is about collective action,” said Sejal Desai, who chairs the campaign’s steering committee and is director of the Akanksha Education Fund.

“This year we are bringing together 51 organizations working in multiple sectors and helping donors identify which causes are most important to them, and which organizations are best aligned with their personal values,” she added.

Another major highlight of this year’s event is the virtual public event, India Giving Day Live, bringing together nonprofit leaders, community figures, and youth participants involved in the initiative.

Participants in the event include tennis player Vijay Amritraj, entrepreneur M. R. Rangaswami, and community leaders Isheeta Ganguly, Deepak Raj, and Simi Shah.

The three-hour online event will be streamed from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time on the India Giving Day website and through the alliance’s YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn channels. Organizers said viewers can join at any time without registration.

“In times of uncertainty, movements like India Giving Day bring hope for the future and remind us that collective action can create real change,” said Meenakshi Mahajan.

“We don’t look at this as a mere fundraising initiative, we see it as fulfilling a need in the community—to connect and join forces in support of social development initiatives in India and create an even bigger impact for those who benefit from the humanitarian work supported through India Giving Day,” she added.

India Giving Day is a U.S.-wide campaign designed to expand philanthropic support for social development initiatives in India by bringing together nonprofits, community leaders, and supporters to mobilize donations and awareness.

Launched in 2023, it has expanded steadily in scale and participation. The initiative grew from just over 1,000 donors contributing about $1.3 million in its first year to nearly 2,700 donors raising close to $9 million in 2025 for nonprofit organizations supporting development initiatives in India.
