Indian American executive Harmit Singh will retire as chief financial and growth officer of Levi Strauss & Co., ending a 13-year tenure at the apparel company.
The company said Singh will continue in his current role until a successor is appointed and will then serve as special advisor to support the transition, A search for a new finance chief has begun, a press release stated.

Michelle Gass, president and chief executive officer of Levi Strauss, said Singh played a key role in strengthening the company’s financial foundation and operational discipline.
“On behalf of the Board and our employees, I want to thank Harmit for his significant contributions to Levi Strauss & Co. over the past 13 years,” Gass said.
“He played an important role in taking the company public, supporting the company’s transformation into a DTC-first retailer, and strengthening our financial foundation and operating rigor, positioning us for long-term profitable growth,” he added.
“It has been a true privilege to work alongside Michelle and the executive leadership team as we’ve driven meaningful, transformative growth,” Singh said. “I look forward to supporting a smooth transition to the company’s next CFO.”
In a LinkedIn post, Singh said the company entered 2026 with continued momentum after what he described as strong operating performance in the first quarter. He said the company had delivered “high-quality, broad-based growth” across sales, margins and earnings, and that he would continue in the role until a successor is named.
Singh joined Levi Strauss in 2013 as chief financial officer, overseeing global finance, information technology, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, strategic sourcing and global business services.
In 2023, his role was expanded to include chief growth officer responsibilities, including work on corporate strategy, transformation initiatives, franchise expansion, global real estate and talent hub development.
Before joining Levi Strauss, Singh served as chief financial officer at Hyatt Hotels Corporation, where he helped take the company public. He also held senior finance roles at Yum! Brands, including division CFO positions at Pizza Hut and Yum Restaurants International. Earlier in his career, he worked at American Express India and Price Waterhouse in India.
