New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani has joined Starbucks workers in their protests against the company. Mamdani accused Starbucks of unfair labor practices and called for a boycott of the global Coffee chain.

Mamdani, who won the City's Mayoral elections on a largely socialistic campaign, is a long term supporter of Starbucks workers' struggle against the corporation and their efforts to unionize. He has shown affinity to the movement since 2022, speaking up for the rights of the workers.

Over a thousand unionized Starbucks employees across the USA walked out of their jobs on Nov. 13, staging a strike against the company's alleged unfair labor practices.

Extending his support, Mamdani said, "Starbucks workers across the country are on an Unfair Labor Practices strike, fighting for a fair contract."

Calling for a boycott, he added, "While workers are on strike, I won’t be buying any Starbucks, and I’m asking you to join us. Together, we can send a powerful message: No contract, no coffee."

Starbucks Workers United, a Union with over 12,000 Starbucks employees, called for the strike and said on X, "As of today, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history."

Highlighting its slogan, 'No Contract, No Coffee', it called for a boycott and said, "DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike!"
