Democratic Candidate Amy Acton attacked her Gubernatorial rival Vivek Ramaswamy, accusing him of calling the people of Ohio lazy. Bagging a Trump endorsement days ago, Ramaswamy and Acton are frontrunners in the race to the office of Ohio Governor, going to polls in November 2026.
Acton, in her post on X, referred to a COVID era comment by Ramaswamy who had called for a cultural shift away from one that glorifies mediocrity and laziness.

Rejecting Ramaswamy's comments, Acton said, "I’m running against a guy, Vivek Ramaswamy, who has said that people are struggling in Ohio because they’re lazy, they’re mediocre, they’re not working hard enough. And I can absolutely tell you that is not the Ohioans I know or see."
Acton further accused Ramaswamy of being out of touch with Ohio and remarked that he is "flying around in his private jet".
Adding steam to the brewing rivalry, Ramswamy hit back, calling Acton 'Dr. Lockdown', he said, "Dr Lockdown led Ohio to be the first state in the nation to shut down public schools during Covid. Students suffered. Small businesses suffered. Families suffered.”
Ramaswamy's campaign witnessed a new spurt of life after the recent Trump endorsement, the endorsement came within weeks of his Diwali post drawing racist and xenophobic comments from MAGA-aligned users, including slurs like "go back to India," attacks on his Hindu faith, and accusations of hypocrisy tied to his H-1B visa stance.
