While in the US, Nagendra will serve as chief guest at the International Day of Yoga event at Times Square, which is being organized by the Consulate General of India in New York.
Before the June 21 celebration, RANA New York, BRUHUD NY Seniors and Jaipur Foot USA will host yoga, health and wellness sessions from June 12 to 14 at YO1 Longevity & Health Resorts in New York.
The programs will feature Nagendra, Manjunath, interventional cardiologist Samin Sharma, health care leader Dr. Raj Bansal and physician Rekha Bhandari.
Organizers noted that Nagendra played a key role in planning India’s first International Day of Yoga celebrations in 2015 and has served on the Padma Awards Selection Committee. In 2019, he and Prem Bhandari received the Yoga Ratna Award at the British Parliament for promoting yoga and Indian traditional knowledge systems.
A special lecture by Nagendra is also scheduled for June 22, hosted by the Consulate General of India in New York in collaboration with RANA New York, BRUHUD NY Seniors and Jaipur Foot USA.
Bhandari said his visit would help expand awareness of yoga, spirituality and holistic health among Indian Americans and the wider U.S. community, adding that organizations involved have promoted yoga for more than a decade at venues including the United Nations Headquarters, Capitol Hill and Times Square.
