The program featured Urvi Shah, a multiple myeloma specialist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, who presented research on the connections between nutrition, inflammation, gut health and cancer.

Shah discussed evidence-based findings on dietary patterns and their potential impact on overall health, translating scientific research into practical recommendations for attendees. The presentation was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session.

The program also featured Shalu Nijhawan, founder of Plant Yum and a SHARAN-certified holistic nutrition and health coach. Nijhawan shared her experiences promoting plant-based living, discussed practical dietary strategies and demonstrated how to prepare a plant-based salad dressing. Attendees sampled a variety of plant-based food products during the session.

Padma Shri awardee Dattatreyudu Nori attended the event and was recognized for his contributions to cancer prevention, treatment and public education. Organizers said his presence added significance to the program’s focus on health awareness and disease prevention.

Additional activities included a screening of a video message featuring Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan advocating veganism and compassionate living, as well as networking opportunities for community members.

The event concluded with a plant-based lunch and dessert. Organizers said the program was part of World Vegan Vision’s broader mission to promote healthier, more sustainable lifestyles through education, outreach and community engagement.
