White House blasts media over Peace Talks coverage

The briefing underscored the White House’s combative approach to shaping the narrative around Trump’s diplomacy — casting media outlets as part of the opposition and insisting the president is moving closer to peace while his critics “sabotage the efforts.”

The White House, in a combative mood, on Aug. 19 accused the “left-wing media” of undermining President Donald Trump’s foreign policy achievements and downplaying progress in Ukraine peace talks following his historic Alaska Summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt opened her daily briefing by delivering a pointed defence of Trump’s summit diplomacy, singling out reporters and pundits who she said were rooting against success. “From the beginning of this entire process, much of the left-wing media has been actively rooting against the president of the United States in the pursuit of peace,” she charged.
