The Trump administration on Aug. 19 touted its sweeping crackdown on crime in the nation’s capital, reporting 465 arrests since federal forces began patrolling Washington streets earlier this month.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the results showed the president’s strategy was working. “If not for this task force and their high level of coordination under the leadership of this president, there would have been 465 more violent criminals on the streets of this capital that you all live in every day,” she told reporters at a news conference.
