A traditional Hindu celestial wedding ceremony, Sri Srinivasa Kalyanam, will be held on May 17 at the Mesa Convention Center, bringing together devotees from across the Phoenix metropolitan area for a religious and community fundraising event.
The ceremony, scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., marks the symbolic marriage of Lord Venkateswara (Srinivasa) with his consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi. It will be led by Sri Giridharan Krishnan, chief priest of the Shiva Vishnu Temple in Chandler.

Organizers said the event is intended not only as a religious observance but also as a fundraiser to support the temple’s expansion plans, including the purchase of land for a future facility aimed at increasing charitable food distribution and community services.
Two guest priests—Sri Tupurani Lakshmi Sai Kaushik Acharya from the Portland Balaji Temple in Oregon and Sri Chakrapani Kumara from Raleigh, North Carolina—are expected to travel to Arizona to lead portions of the rituals.
According to a letter shared by the temple representative, the ceremony will feature traditional rituals, chants, floral arrangements, and music, offering “a vibrant display of Indian heritage” for the local community.
The Shiva Vishnu Temple, located in Chandler, serves as a religious and cultural center for the region’s Hindu community. The temple is dedicated to both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu and hosts religious services, outreach initiatives, and volunteer programs.
Organizers said the current fundraising goal is $251,000, which will be used toward securing permits, construction materials, and infrastructure for the planned expansion.
The event will also include cultural performances and the distribution of Maha Prasadam, or sacred food, to attendees. Community members are invited to participate through sponsorships and donations.
