Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on April 8 launched the India-US trade portal during a virtual event at the Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C.
The portal aims to facilitate direct connections between exporters and businesses in India and the US market, as the two countries aim to expand bilateral trade to US$ 500 billion by 2030.

Speaking on the initiative's significance at the event, Misri said, "It will serve as a bridge, ensuring continuity and ensuring that existing supply chains are reinforced and at the same time will enable new commercial linkages to emerge and grow. While it's a fact that several B2B platforms exist already, a dedicated India-US platform unlocks the full potential of this bilateral partnership."
He acknowledged the efforts of the Indian Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra and the Consulate General of India in New York for conceptualizing the initiative and bringing it to life.
"I am confident that this platform will serve as a very valuable tool, not just for facilitating trade, but also for building enduring partnerships, partnerships that will actually help us advance towards our shared goals for a stronger India-US partnership," Misri said.

In a video message, Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal welcomed the initiative, describing it as a 'runway' for Indian businesses to the United States of America. "For a farmer in Punjab or a jeweler or weaver in Surat. For a software entrepreneur in Bengaluru or a pharma firm in Gujarat or Telangana. This is a world full of opportunities," he said.
Apart from promoting connections, Goyal added that the portal will help in closing the knowledge gaps on US regulatory and standards requirements. "From MSMEs and start-ups to ODOP, and first-time exporters, we are ensuring that no Indian enterprise is too small to reach a US buyer," he said, urging all beneficiaries to make the portal into a "powerful engine" for US-India trade.
In his remarks, Ambassador Kwatra acknowledged the role of Binaya Pradhan, the Consul General of India in New York and his team for spearheading the initiative and the various Indian missions in the United States as well as the Indian Ministries of External Affairs and Commerce for their support.
"I would only appeal to all the export promotion councils that are part of this initiative that this is a singular opportunity to coherently converge our export promotion efforts of the entire Government of India and, of course, of the individual sector-specific councils, whether they are product-specific or they are service-specific. I would at some stage even bring an investment promotion into this facilitation portal. I think this is an excellent opportunity. We would welcome your feedback, your efforts to make this a success will always be welcome," Kwatra said.
The event featured a demonstration of the portal's various functionalities, including the secure individual dashboard for real-time deal monitoring, AI-driven matching and smart search capabilities, immersive catalogs complete with videos and brochures, virtual exhibitions, live trade events, and upcoming webinars from major players such as Walmart and Costco.
The portal is currently accepting registrations.
