FIA marks Women’s Day with Boston event
The organization also honored several women for their work in community service and launched tree-planting initiative tied to America’s 250th anniversary.

The Foundation of Indian-Americans–New England held an International Women’s Day event at Boston’s Prudential Center, bringing together women leaders from multiple professional fields.
The program was hosted by Jyoti Singh, director of FIA–New England, who moderated a roundtable discussion with participants from healthcare, entrepreneurship, wellness, the arts and community service. The conversation focused on leadership, mentorship and the challenges women face in professional and community roles.

Shruti Purushottam, deputy consul general of India in Boston, attended the event as chief guest and joined community leaders in recognizing the contributions of women across the New England region.
The gathering also marked the launch of FIA–New England’s environmental initiative, ‘Plant a Plant – Give to Gain.’ The organization pledged to plant 250 fruit-bearing trees in the coming months to commemorate 250 years of American independence.
Organizers said the program aimed to connect community service with environmental sustainability.
A women’s empowerment roundtable discussion formed the central part of the event. Participants shared personal experiences navigating professional challenges, balancing leadership with service and building networks to support other women.
FIA–New England also honored several women for their work in community service, entrepreneurship, healthcare, wellness and the arts.
Those recognized included Kathy McDonald, Vicky Brogden, Vandana Pitke, Susanne Dillon, Kadian A. James, Gahna Adaval, Lana Israel, Manju Kaushal, Sujata Patil, Sudha Sarin, Kameswari Kavsari, Lakshmi Tulasi Nallam, Priya Bagade, Deepa Agrawal, Tanu Phoenix, Aditi Soni and Guzel Bikynova.
The event concluded with networking and community engagement activities. Organizers said the gathering aimed to highlight women’s leadership and encourage continued collaboration within the community.
