BITS Pilani, University of Michigan to expand academic collaboration
The agreement will support student exchanges, faculty development, joint research projects, internships, and academic conferences between the Indian and U.S. institutions.

BITS Pilani, one of India's leading higher education institutions, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Michigan to expand academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
The MoU was signed in the presence of V. Ramgopal Rao, group vice chancellor of BITS Pilani, and Laurie K. McCauley, provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs at the University of Michigan. Arya Kumar, dean of alumni relations at BITS Pilani, along with senior leadership from both institutions, attended the signing ceremony.

The agreement will facilitate student exchange programs, internships, faculty development initiatives, cross-campus teaching, and joint research projects. The two institutions also plan to collaborate on academic conferences and knowledge-sharing initiatives aimed at addressing global challenges through research and innovation.
Rao said the partnership aligns with BITS Pilani's efforts to expand its international academic engagement.
"This partnership reflects our commitment to building impactful global collaborations that advance knowledge and foster innovation," he said.
McCauley highlighted the role of international collaborations in addressing global challenges through research and academic exchange.
"Partnerships like these bring people together to advance discovery in ways that benefit communities around the world," she said.
The institutions said the collaboration is designed to promote academic mobility, foster innovation, and create opportunities for students and faculty to engage in research and educational activities across campuses.
