More than 100 women gathered at the home of Sreedhar and Shivani Aitha in New Jersey to celebrate Bathukamma, Telangana’s flower festival, with colourful towers, devotional songs, and a spirit of togetherness that has travelled across continents.
Bathukamma, meaning “Mother Goddess come to life,” is one of Telangana’s most cherished traditions. Celebrated after the monsoons, it honours Goddess Gauri, expresses gratitude for nature’s abundance, and highlights womanhood and resilience.
