Until recently, few outside legal circles knew the name of a rising legal eagle: Arun Subramanian. That changed overnight after he sentenced music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs to prison in the first week of October 2025. The ruling, tied to prostitution-related offenses and abuse involving two former partners, drew national attention—and so did the judge behind it.
Subramanian was born in 1979 in Pittsburgh to Indian parents who had moved to the United States in search of opportunity. His father worked as a control systems engineer. His mother kept financial books.
