“Healthcare shouldn’t be a luxury”: Dr. Tina Shah on why she’s running for Congress

A frontline doctor and former White House policy advisor, Dr. Tina Shah is bringing her fight for affordable healthcare and stronger community representation to New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District.

Intensive care doctor and policy veteran Dr. Tina Shah is channelling her years of service—including under three presidential administrations—into a campaign for Congress in New Jersey’s 7th District as a Democratic candidate.

A fierce advocate for her patients, Dr. Shah’s campaign is centred on improving the quality and affordability of healthcare both statewide and nationally. In a detailed interview with with this reporter, Dr. Shah discussed the urgency of addressing the rising costs of living and identified specific concerns for the Indian American community, such as the effect of President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Indian-owned businesses.
