Emirates A380 / Emirates
Emirates announced on July 9 that it will introduce its flagship Airbus A380 on the Dubai-Delhi route, expanding the deployment of its double-decker aircraft in India.
The A380 service will commence on Oct. 25, making Delhi the third Indian destination to be served by the aircraft after Mumbai and Bengaluru.
The airline said the A380 will operate on flights EK512 and EK513 in a four-class configuration, while its three other daily Delhi services will continue to be operated by retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft featuring Premium Economy cabins.
With the introduction of the A380, Premium Economy will be available on all Emirates flights between Dubai and Delhi. By the end of October, the airline will offer the cabin class on services to six Indian cities, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Kochi.
Emirates also announced that its daily Kolkata-Dubai service, EK570 and EK571, will transition from the Boeing 777 to the Airbus A350 beginning Oct. 25. Combined with five weekly retrofitted Boeing 777 services, Premium Economy will be available on all 12 weekly flights between Kolkata and Dubai.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates' deputy president and chief commercial officer, said the rollout reflects the airline's continued investment in the Indian market and its efforts to enhance the travel experience for passengers.
As part of its expansion in India, Emirates has opened retail travel stores in Delhi and Mumbai and plans to launch additional outlets in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, along with a dedicated call center in Mumbai.
The airline currently operates 167 weekly flights from nine Indian cities, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram, to Dubai, providing onward connectivity to nearly 140 destinations across its global network.
