Maryland Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller will kick off the reelection campaign on May 2 with rallies in Baltimore City and Prince George’s County.

She will be joined by Governor Wes Moore as the Moore-Miller ticket begins its statewide push for a second term in the 2026 election.

“I am thrilled to travel to Baltimore and Prince George’s County with Governor Wes Moore to kick off our reelection campaign with so many of our dedicated supporters,” Miller said.

“What we’ve seen coming out of Washington shows us it’s more important than ever that we continue the work to make our public schools the best in America, to end childhood poverty once and for all, and to make sure more Marylanders can afford to live here, buy a home, create wealth for their families, and live a secure middle-class life,” she added.

“Maryland, get ready, because on May 2nd we are kicking off the most aggressive campaign Maryland has ever seen,” Moore said in a statement.

“After another legislative session where we fought to protect our people, lower costs for working families, and grow our economy, we are proud to put our reelection efforts into full swing. This year, we are continuing our travels across the state to ask Marylanders for their support so we can keep making Maryland more affordable and to create even more opportunity for all Marylanders regardless of their zip code,” he added.

The kickoff comes weeks after Moore and Miller formally filed for reelection, setting the stage for the 2026 gubernatorial race, where the incumbent Democratic ticket is expected to face multiple challengers.

Miller, who has served as Maryland’s 10th lieutenant governor since 2023, is the first immigrant and first woman of color elected to statewide office in the state. As the second-highest ranking official in Maryland’s executive branch, she has taken on a policy portfolio spanning transportation, education, and public health.

She has also chaired key state efforts, including Maryland’s overdose response initiatives, which officials have linked to declining overdose deaths in recent years, and has played a role in advancing policies on economic growth, education, and government modernization.

Since taking office, the Moore-Miller administration has highlighted tax relief for middle-class residents, record-low unemployment, and investments in public safety and economic development.

The reelection effort enters the race with significant financial backing. The campaign reported raising $7 million in 2025, a record for an off-year in Maryland, and began 2026 with $8 million in cash on hand.

Endorsements include the Maryland League of Conservation Voters, the Maryland State Education Association, and the Service Employees International Union Local 500, along with support from Democrats and Republicans across the state.

The campaign heads into the Nov. 3, general election, with primaries scheduled for June 23.
