The India Young Professionals Scheme operates through a ballot system. Successful entries are selected at random, and applicants will be notified of the results by email within two weeks after the ballot closes.
The ballot is free to enter. However, applicants should only apply if they intend to complete the visa application, which costs $ 460 (INR 44,200) and meet all eligibility requirements, including holding an eligible qualification and having sufficient funds to support themselves.
To enter the ballot, applicants must be Indian citizens who meet the scheme's eligibility criteria. They will need to provide their name, date of birth, passport details, a scan or photograph of their passport, phone number, and email address.
A total of 3,000 places are available under the India Young Professionals Scheme in 2026. The UK government said most places were allocated during the first ballot held in February, with the remaining places to be offered through the July ballot.
Applicants may submit only one ballot entry per person. Multiple entries will not be counted.
Candidates selected in the ballot will have 90 days from the date of their invitation email to submit an online visa application, pay the visa application fee and immigration health surcharge, and provide biometric information, including fingerprints and a photograph.
The UK government said the results of the ballot are final and cannot be appealed. Applicants who are unsuccessful may enter future ballots if they continue to meet the eligibility requirements.
