The U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) on July 14 appointed Chetan Krishnaswamy, vice president of public policy at Amazon India, to its global board of directors
"The U.S.-India Business Council is pleased to welcome Chetan Krishnaswamy, vice president, Public Policy, Amazon India, to our Global Board of Directors. His leadership will support deeper collaboration across trade, investment, and market access within the U.S.-India economic partnership," the council said in a statement. "Welcome, Chetan!"

Responding to the appointment, Krishnaswamy said he was honored to join the board and looked forward to strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
"I am honored to join the U.S.-India Business Council's global board of directors. The U.S.-India economic partnership holds immense potential, and I look forward to contributing to the Council's efforts to deepen collaboration across trade, investment, and innovation. Strong, trust-based partnerships between our two nations will be key to driving inclusive and sustainable growth," he said.
Krishnaswamy has served as vice president of public policy at Amazon India since April 2020, where he leads the company's public policy and government engagement efforts.
Before joining Amazon, he spent nearly seven years at Google, serving as country jead of public policy and later director of Public Policy. During his tenure, he built the company's public policy team, established partnerships with central and state governments, and helped strengthen Google's engagement with policymakers and stakeholders across India.
Earlier, Krishnaswamy served as director of corporate affairs at Dell India for more than four years. Before that, he headed Public Affairs (Policy and Programs) at Intel India and also served as technical assistant to the president of Intel India. During his time at Intel, he received the Intel Achievement Award, the company's highest employee honor, an award presented to fewer than one percent of employees.
Krishnaswamy began his professional career in journalism. He worked as Assistant Editor and Chief of Bureau for Information Technology at The Times of India, leading the newspaper's technology coverage before transitioning to corporate public policy.
He holds a Master's degree in English from the University of Mysore's Maharaja's College.
The USIBC, an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, works to strengthen business and strategic ties between the United States and India by promoting trade, investment, innovation, and policy cooperation. Its Global Board of Directors comprises senior executives from leading companies with interests in the U.S.-India corridor.
