The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, invited applications for the Know India Programme (KIP) – 88th Edition, a flagship engagement initiative for diaspora youth of Indian origin.

The programme will be held from March 8 to March 27, and is open to Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) aged 21 to 35 years. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the Know India Programme is designed to familiarize young members of the Indian diaspora with various facets of life in India and strengthen their engagement with the country. The initiative is part of India’s broader outreach to its overseas community.

The last date to apply is Feb. 20.

Applicants residing within the jurisdiction of the Embassy of India, Washington DC—covering Bermuda, the District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia—are required to submit scanned copies of a duly completed application form along with supporting documents.

These include proof of educational qualifications, a passport, a color passport-size photograph, and PIO or OCI documentation.

Applications from the Washington, DC jurisdiction must be sent by email to psminca.washington@mea.gov.in by the stated deadline. Detailed guidelines and application forms are available through official Government of India channels.

Launched in 2003–04 as one of the Ministry’s longest-running outreach initiatives, KIP aims to foster stronger connections between the Indian diaspora and their ancestral homeland by exposing participants to a broad spectrum of India’s societal, cultural, and institutional framework.

Over the past two decades, thousands of Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) from around the world have taken part in the three-week programme.
