CGI Boston launches emergency and consular services initiative

The announcement was made during a get-together organized by TEAM Aid uniting community organizations from across New England.

The first Consul General of India in Boston, Raghuram S., has announced the commencement of miscellaneous consular services and emergency assistance at the consulate.

This initiative will provide services such as attestation of documents, issuance of life certificates or identity certificates, police clearance certificates, registration of births, marriages or deaths abroad, OCI/PIO-related support, notarial services, and urgent assistance in cases such as lost or stolen passports, medical emergencies, arrest or detention, and evacuation or crisis situations, expanding the consulate’s routine administrative work.

The announcement was made during a get-together organized by TEAM Aid, a global nonprofit humanitarian organization dedicated to assisting individuals and families facing crises abroad.

The gathering brought together Indian diaspora leaders from across the New England states to welcome Raghuram; Deputy Consul General and Head of Chancery Shruthi Purushottam; and the team of the Consulate General of India, Boston.

 



Mohan Nannapaneni, founder of TEAM Aid, in his speech outlined the organization’s mission and the complex humanitarian challenges it addresses globally. He emphasized the critical importance of timely coordination with governments, consulates, airlines, and local authorities to ensure dignified repatriation of mortal remains and compassionate support to grieving families.

Prem Bhandari of Jaipur Foot USA and Jag Mohan, minister (community affairs) from the Embassy of India in Washington, D.C., were the guests of honor. During the event, TEAM Aid also appointed Prem Bhandari as its honorary chairman, recognizing his longstanding guidance and advocacy.

Consul General Raghuram S reaffirmed the Consulate’s commitment to accessibility and service, stating that the Boston mission will strive to support the Indian community with dedication and responsiveness throughout the year.



Diaspora leaders from more than 60 organizations across New England, including Abhishek Singh, president of the Federation of Indian Associations New England, and Nilesh Agarwal, president of the India Association of Greater Boston, attended the event.

The event concluded with TEAM Aid honoring CG Raghuram, Bhandari, and Jagmohan with floral tributes and shawls, with a vote of thanks and special recognitions presented to distinguished guests.
