Two Indian-origin men, 35-year-old Kulwinder Singh and 27-year-old Jagroop Singh, have been charged with mail theft after they were arrested in Calgary, police announced April 30.
Calgary police, on April 21, responded to complaints from the area of Skyview Point Heath and Skyview Point Green N.E. of the duo actively breaking into community mailboxes.
Responding to the complaints, authorities deployed ground units and helicopter units in pursuit, leading to locating the suspects’ vehicle and conducting a traffic stop.
During the traffic stop, a large quantity of mail believed to be stolen from mailboxes was allegedly located, along with break-and-enter tools.
Both men were arrested and taken into custody.

Stolen items, including checks, credit cards and identification documents, were seized by investigators.
Kulwinder Singh, a Chestermere resident, has been charged with 38 counts of mail theft, three counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, one count of mischief under $5,000, one count of possession of break-in instruments and one count of possession of a stolen credit card.
Jagroop Singh, a Calgary resident, has been charged with 38 counts of mail theft, six counts of possession of a stolen credit card, two counts each of possession of identity documents, possession of a controlled substance and possession of stolen property under $5,000, along with one count each of mischief under $5,000, disguise with intent, possession of break-in instruments and possession of stolen property over $5,000.
Calgary police believe that more than 35 victims have been impacted by these thefts.
Jagroop Singh was presented in court on April 30, and Kulwinder Singh will be presented on May 1.
