Patanjali, India’s leading Ayurveda and wellness organisation, is embarking on an ambitious global expansion to make authentic Ayurvedic healthcare accessible to millions of Indians living across the world. Under the guidance of Acharya Balkrishan, a renowned Ayurveda scholar and the organisation’s spiritual and scientific head, Patanjali is transitioning from informal product distribution to a structured, regulated global presence.

During an exclusive conversation with India Abroad, Acharya Balkrishan outlined a vision that transcends commercial success, focusing instead on cultural reconnection and health. He addressed the 32 million-strong Indian diaspora, acknowledging that many have carried Patanjali products in their suitcases for years. However, he expressed a desire for a more professional and legal integration into global markets. Reflecting on this transition, Acharya Balkrishan stated, "We want to sell goods according to the country's rules and regulations. It is even better. More people will benefit. We will get more energy to work for the people."

At the heart of Patanjali’s global strategy are state-of-the-art wellness centres designed to offer a complete Ayurvedic experience. These centres will function as hubs for holistic healing, offering Panchakarma therapy, yoga instruction, and Sanskrit learning. Acharya Balkrishan noted that these facilities would be strictly compliant with local health authorities, ensuring that practitioners are well-trained and certified. Discussing the purpose of these global outposts, he remarked, "Our goal is not just to sell products but to provide a complete system of well-being where individuals can find spiritual, mental, and physical health under one roof."

One of the most innovative pillars of this expansion is Patanjali’s free telemedicine platform, which aims to bring expert Ayurvedic guidance to homes across the world. The service allows the diaspora to consult with doctors 24/7, providing a digital link to traditional Indian healthcare. Acharya Balkrishan emphasized the importance of this accessibility, saying, "Through this system, people can consult with our doctors, get guidance on yoga, and receive follow-up care regardless of where they live. We are using technology to ensure that no one is disconnected from the benefits of Ayurveda."

A significant portion of the conversation focused on the scientific credibility of Ayurveda. Patanjali has invested heavily in research, publishing hundreds of papers in international journals to back their traditional formulations with modern evidence. Acharya Balkishan believes this is the key to global acceptance, stating, "We are conducting research at the highest levels, including in vivo and in vitro studies, to show the world that Ayurveda is a deep and valid science. When we present our work to international bodies, it is with the strength of data and clinical trials."

Addressing the emotional and cultural needs of Indians living abroad, Acharya Balkishan’s message was one of empowerment rather than sacrifice. He encouraged the diaspora to stay connected to their roots through daily yoga and Ayurvedic practices while continuing to excel in their professional fields. He offered a comforting assurance to those worried about the risks of traditional practices in foreign lands, saying, "There is no restriction. There is no risk. There is no side effect. You can learn, you can teach, and you can practice. It will only add to your happiness and your health."

Acharya Balkishan concluded by reinforcing the idea that this mission is a service to humanity. He urged the diaspora to see themselves as ambassadors of this ancient wisdom, noting, "If you stay connected to your culture and your health through these practices, you will feel the warmth in your heart even when you are thousands of miles away from home. We are here to support that journey every step of the way." With this structured push into wellness centres and digital health, Patanjali is poised to turn the organic spread of Ayurveda into a formal, scientifically-backed global movement.
