The Consulate General of India in New York has announced plans to partner with the Times Square Alliance for this year's International Day of Yoga celebrations on June 21.
The Times Square Alliance event, titled "2026 Solstice in Times Square: Mind Over Madness Yoga," held at Broadway and West 46th Street, will feature a yoga session presented by the Consulate General of India in New York.
The session will be instructed by Ruchika Lal, a senior faculty member of the Art of Living Foundation.
She has spent over 15 years teaching yoga and meditation to thousands of practitioners worldwide. She has led transformational programs for the United Nations, Fortune 50 companies and universities, including Wharton and Columbia.
She currently serves as chairperson of the Art of Living Foundation USA and is the co-founder of IntuitionAI.

The organizers urged people to attend the event and said, "On the longest day of the year, join us in the heart of Times Square for a sunrise practice presented by the Consulate General of India and led by the Art of Living Foundation."
They continued, "The session blends gentle asanas, guided breathwork, and meditation, a complete reset for body and mind as we step into the longest day of the year. Open to all levels, no mat or experience required. Just bring yourself."
The Consulate also noted that Dr. H.R. Nagendra will join the session as chief guest. Dr. Nagendra is an Indian mechanical engineer, yoga therapist, academic, writer and founder chancellor of Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana, a deemed university located in Bengaluru.
International Day of Yoga 2026 will be observed under the theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing." The theme emphasizes yoga's contribution to healthy, active and dignified ageing through improved physical, mental and emotional well-being.
International Day of Yoga 2026 will be observed on June 21, promoting the benefits of yoga for physical health, mental well-being and holistic living worldwide.
The annual observance, led by United Nations member states and communities across the globe, highlights yoga's role in fostering harmony between mind, body and nature.
