Sewa USA seeks aid for flood-hit Northeast India
The fundraising campaign aims to deliver food, clean water, shelter, and medical aid to flood-affected families.

Sewa International USA has launched an emergency appeal to support flood-hit communities in India's Northeast, where monsoon rains have affected more than 650,000 people.
The nonprofit said widespread flooding has impacted more than 700 villages, displacing thousands of families and leaving many without access to food, clean drinking water, healthcare, and shelter. It is working with trusted local partners and volunteers to provide emergency relief to affected communities.

"Thousands of families in India's Northeast need our help," Sewa International USA said in a social media post announcing the campaign. "Relentless flooding has displaced families and left many without food, clean water, shelter, and other basic necessities."
According to the organization, donations will help provide food packets and community meals, safe drinking water and water purification supplies, hygiene and sanitation kits, emergency shelter materials, essential medicines, healthcare support, clothing, blankets, and other critical relief supplies.
"As floodwaters continue to rise, thousands of families are struggling to survive," the organization said on its fundraising page. "Every donation helps deliver urgent relief while supporting families as they rebuild their lives."
Sewa International USA said it is coordinating relief efforts through trusted local partners to ensure assistance reaches affected communities as quickly as possible. The organization urged individuals to contribute to support ongoing emergency response and long-term recovery efforts.
"Your generosity can make an immediate difference," the organization said. "Together, we can help communities recover with dignity, resilience, and hope."
The appeal comes as large parts of Northeast India continue to grapple with one of the region's worst flood seasons. Assam, the hardest-hit state, has reported dozens of flood-related deaths, while more than 100,000 people remain affected despite floodwaters receding in some areas. Relief and rehabilitation operations are continuing across several districts with assistance from state and central agencies.
