The resolution titled "Impeaching Pamela Jo Bondi, Attorney General of the United States of America, for high crimes and misdemeanors" lays out three articles holding Bondi accountable for Obstruction of Congress, Obstruction of Justice, and Weaponizing as well as Politicizing the Department of Justice.
"By illegally withholding millions of Epstein Files after we passed a law requiring her to release all of them ahead of the designated deadline, Pam Bondi has disgraced herself and our country’s entire Justice Department,” said Congressman Thanedar.
He further asserted that "by protecting predators who abused children to appease Donald Trump is the most reprehensible thing any Attorney General has ever done," calling it an insult to survivors and emphasizing the need for accountability.
The congressman has framed the impeachment as a defense of congressional oversight, transparency, and justice for abuse survivors. The resolution was referred to the House Judiciary Committee following its introduction.
The Epstein Files Transparency Act, which Thanedar supported, obligated the Department of Justice to disclose all Jeffrey Epstein-related documents before the deadline of Dec. 19, 2025.
However, the Justice Department failed to meet the mandated deadline, releasing a major tranche of material on Jan. 30, consisting of more than 3 million pages, 2,000 videos, and 180,000 images.
