Virginia witnessed a grand celebration of America’s 250th anniversary on March 14.

Titled, 'America’s 250th Birthday Spectacular', the event was hosted by Aparna Madireddi at the River Creek Club. Madireddi is a board member of Virginia Humanities.

The semiquincentennial gathering stood as a reflection of the stories and traditions that shape the country’s shared history.

As part of the celebrations, the founders of Global Seva Fund, Shashi and Ravi Chopra, were also honored with an appreciation award.

Speaking at the event, Anil Sharma, the CEO of 22nd Century Technologies, said, “America is not just an idea. America is not just a country. It’s an idea where a person halfway from the globe can come here, work hard, take risks, and stand here in front of you talking about success.”

He added, “250 years ago, the American story started with a great idea, with an extraordinary idea, and that idea continued to inspire this whole world. If we continue to nurture that idea with courage, with innovation, with services, the best chapter of America is still ahead of us.”

She also expressed gratitude to the political leadership that supported the event, noting, “Thank you to all elected officials who attended from the Town of Leesburg, Loudoun County and beyond.”

Madireddi continued, “A very special thank you to the White House staff, and the offices of Governor Abigail Spanberger and Congressman Suhas Subramanyam for all your support for this event.”
