For the past several years, I have been deeply involved in supporting 34 Vidya Bharati schools, empowering over 26,000 students through comprehensive digital learning ecosystems.
These are not mere gadgets or isolated tech tools; they form a holistic system that integrates interactive content, teacher training, and adaptive platforms, all at an accessible cost of roughly Rs 1 lakh per student over 5 years, with about $500 in the first year.
The results speak for themselves: some of our students have topped national exams within months of enrolling, including tests administered by the U.S. bodies, proving that with the right foundation, extraordinary leaps are possible.
Imagine scaling this model across Vidya Bharati’s vast network of over 12,000 schools, which currently educate more than 3.5 million students—approximately 1.2 percent of India’s school-going population.
Yet, remarkably, these institutions consistently claim a disproportionate share of academic excellence, securing multiple top ranks in state board exams and national tests like NEET and civil services.
This is no accident. Vidya Bharati schools embody the entrepreneurial spirit we all admire: built on donated lands, with infrastructure raised by local business leaders, and operations sustained through minimal fees that communities can afford, supplemented by dedicated donors. It’s a lean, community-driven model that maximizes efficiency and fosters resilience, much like the startups we’ve bootstrapped or scaled.
But here’s where the opportunity—and the idealism—truly ignites. With 14,000 schools in the ecosystem, we have the chance to upgrade education for millions, bridging the digital divide and equipping the next generation of innovators, leaders, and entrepreneurs.
