Kushilob & Friends to host South Asian theater festival in Philadelphia
The South Asian Theater Festival aims to celebrate cultural diversity, foster community connections, and showcase South Asian performing arts traditions.

Kushilob & Friends, a nonprofit amateur theater group dedicated to promoting South Asian performing arts, will host a three-day South Asian Theater Festival in Philadelphia.
The Festival, set to take place from Aug. 7-9 will bring together theater groups and artists from four states for a celebration of community, culture and storytelling at the Louis Bluver Theatre at The Drake.
According to organizers, the festival lineup features 10 productions by nearly seven theater groups and artists from Delaware, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

“This festival is very meaningful for us. We are an amateur nonprofit theater group, but our passion for theater and community is very strong. Bringing together 7 theater groups over three days in Philadelphia is a significant achievement, and we believe this event will add meaningful cultural value to the city,” said Kaushik Roy Choudhury, representing Kushilob & Friends.
Participating groups include Off-Kendrik of Massachusetts, Ebong Theatrix of Washington, D.C., Prayog of New Jersey, Epic Actors’ Workshop of New Jersey, solo performer Lavanya Gopal of New Jersey, Lights and Shadows Theater Company of New Jersey and Kushilob of Delaware.
Organizers emphasized that the festival will showcase a range of theatrical performances reflecting South Asian languages, artistic styles and cultural traditions while providing opportunities for audiences to engage with community-based arts.
Kushilob & Friends is also seeking support from media organizations, cultural institutions, universities, local businesses and community groups to help expand awareness of the festival.
