Democrat Jay Vaingankar, a candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 12th District, has received an endorsement from Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi.
In a post announcing the endorsement, Vaingankar said, “Raja has spent years in Congress delivering results for working families. That's the standard I'm holding myself to in NJ-12.”

The endorsement comes as Vaingankar builds momentum in a competitive Democratic primary for an open seat following the retirement of longtime Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman.
A former White House and Department of Energy official, Vaingankar has positioned his campaign around economic affordability, clean energy, and generational leadership. A Mercer County native, he has emphasized cost-of-living concerns and workforce opportunities as central to his bid.
Vaingankar has also secured backing from Asian American political groups, including the Indian American Impact Fund and the AAPI Victory Fund, positioning his campaign to engage the district’s South Asian and broader AAPI voter base.
On the fundraising front, Vaingankar reported raising more than $126,000 within 24 hours of launching his campaign, with contributions from over 200 donors. Federal filings show the campaign had more than $143,000 in cash on hand at the end of 2025.
New Jersey’s primary election is scheduled for June 2, while the general election will be held on Nov. 3.
