India’s Washington embassy to host U.S. student orientation
The orientation will cover key issues students may encounter during their transition to U.S. academic life, including academic transition, consular support and recent U.S. immigration developments.

The Embassy of India in Washington, D.C., will host a virtual orientation session Aug. 20 for Indian students preparing to begin or continue their academic journey in the United States.
The session, titled Virtual Orientation Session for Indian Students: Preparing for Academic Life in the United States, will begin at 11 a.m. EST. It is open to incoming Fall 2026 students as well as Indian students currently enrolled at U.S. institutions.
The orientation will cover key issues students may encounter during their transition to U.S. academic life, including academic transition, consular support and recent U.S. immigration developments.
Speakers will include Sunayna Dabas, education lead at the Embassy of India; Vinayak Patil, consular lead at the embassy; Devang Shah, an immigration attorney; and a student representative currently studying in the United States.

Students will also have an opportunity to submit questions in advance through the registration process. Those interested in attending must register and submit their queries through the online Google Form by Aug. 19.
The session comes as thousands of Indian students prepare to enter U.S. universities and colleges for the Fall 2026 academic term. The embassy's orientation is intended to provide incoming and current students with practical information and access to consular and immigration guidance as they navigate academic life in the United States.
