India’s vibrant cultural heritage was on full display at the Festival of Embassies 2026 in Prague 6, where visitors experienced a colorful blend of Indian traditions, cuisine, handicrafts, and dance performances that attracted enthusiastic crowds throughout the day.
The annual festival, which celebrates the cultural diversity of diplomatic missions represented in the Czech Republic, brought together embassies from around the world to showcase their respective cultures. Representing India at the event were Ambassador Raveesh Kumar and Mrs. Ranjana Raveesh, who joined fellow diplomats and dignitaries during the inauguration ceremony.
A major attraction was the India Stall, organized and managed by the Indian Women Association Czech Republic (IWA Czech Republic). The stall offered visitors a rich taste of India through displays of traditional handicrafts, authentic Indian cuisine, and intricate henna art that drew visitors of all ages.
Festival-goers explored handcrafted items reflecting India's artistic traditions while enjoying popular Indian dishes and learning about the country's diverse cultural heritage. The henna art section proved particularly popular, with long queues of visitors eager to experience the traditional body art.
Adding to the festive atmosphere were energetic dance performances presented by Bhavya Subbakrishnan, Sumiksha Chakraborty, Jana Kadlíčková, and Eliška Hurková. Their performances showcased the diversity and dynamism of Indian dance traditions, captivating audiences with colorful costumes, expressive movements, and vibrant rhythms.
The performances offered visitors a glimpse into India's rich cultural landscape and highlighted the growing cultural connections between India and the Czech Republic.
Members of the Indian Women Association Czech Republic played a key role in presenting India’s cultural heritage to an international audience, helping strengthen people-to-people ties and promoting greater appreciation of Indian traditions within the Czech Republic.
The Festival of Embassies has become one of Prague’s most anticipated multicultural events, providing a platform for diplomatic missions to engage with local communities and celebrate global diversity. India's participation once again underscored the country's commitment to cultural diplomacy and international friendship through the universal language of art, food, and culture.
