India launches photography contest ahead of Independence Day
Selected photographs will be exhibited at the Consulate on India's Independence Day.

The Government of India has launched a photography competition, inviting the Indian diaspora to showcase their perspectives of India ahead of the country's 80th Independence Day celebrations.
Titled "India Through My Lens," the competition is being organized through Indian embassies and consulates worldwide, with Indian missions inviting participants to capture India's people, culture, landscapes, traditions, cuisine, heritage, innovation, and everyday life, as well as Indian community life abroad.

In the United States, the Consulate General of India in New York has opened the competition to residents of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut, and Ohio.
According to the Consulate, participants may submit photographs taken in India or images showcasing Indian culture and community life in the United States.
Selected entries will be exhibited at the Consulate during India's Independence Day celebrations on Aug. 15.
Announcing the competition, the Consulate said, "Capture and share your unique perspective of India–its people, culture, landscapes, traditions, cuisine, heritage, or everyday moments. Photographs may be taken in India or may showcase Indian culture and community life in the United States."
Entries for the New York edition must be submitted by Aug. 10, through the online application form or by scanning the QR code on the official competition poster.
Indian missions in other countries have also announced local editions of the competition as part of the global campaign.
The photography competition is part of a broader outreach by Indian missions to commemorate India's 80th Independence Day and strengthen engagement with the global Indian diaspora. Alongside the contest, embassies and consulates are organizing flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural programs, exhibitions, and community events celebrating India's heritage and the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
