Chef Vikas Khanna backs India-US trade portal
The Michelin-starred chef said the initiative can help Indian businesses expand exports to the US.

Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna endorsed the India-USA Trade Facilitation Portal, calling it a step toward helping Indian exporters connect with US buyers and expand trade opportunities.
Khanna said the platform gives him hope that India can one day achieve $50 billion in food exports to the US. "I have a dream that India can have $50 billion export of food to USA," he said in a video message promoting the initiative.

Describing the portal as an important step toward strengthening commercial ties between India and the United States, Khanna said it would enable exporters across sectors, including food, to showcase their products, connect with trusted sourcing partners, and use AI-powered recommendations to identify business opportunities.

The chef said the portal is designed for businesses of all sizes in India and the United States. It offers virtual exhibitions, AI-powered business matchmaking, and educational webinars featuring companies such as Amazon, Costco, and Walmart to help exporters better understand the US market.
"I've always believed that when good people come together with honest intentions, wonderful things happen," Khanna said. "I hope this portal inspires many more entrepreneurs to share what they create with the world."
The Consulate General of India in New York thanked Khanna for "bringing India and the United States closer through food and entrepreneurship." In a post on X, the mission said the India-USA Trade Facilitation Portal helps connect Indian exporters with US importers to build trusted partnerships through technology.
Launched by the Consulate General of India in New York in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Washington, D.C., and India's consulates across the United States, the portal serves as a digital B2B marketplace aimed at facilitating bilateral trade.
It allows verified exporters and importers to connect, publish sourcing requirements, participate in virtual exhibitions, securely exchange trade documents, and monitor deals through an integrated platform.
AI-powered tools help match buyers and sellers based on business requirements, while webinars and trade events provide market insights for companies seeking to expand across borders.
At the portal's launch in April, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal urged businesses in both countries to use the platform to help advance the shared goal of increasing bilateral trade to $500 billion.
