India debuts at ITB China 2026

India showcased its tourism and hospitality offerings at one of Asia’s leading travel trade exhibitions in Shanghai.

India marked its inaugural participation at Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) China 2026, the tourism trade and B2B exhibition in Shanghai, on May 26.

Consul General of India in Shanghai, Pratik Mathur, inaugurated India’sRajasthan and Goa pavilions at the three-day travel trade fair being held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center.

The Rajasthan and Goa pavilions showcased India’s cultural heritage, tourism diversity, hospitality offerings and travel experiences to international visitors and participants attending the exhibition.

During the inauguration ceremony, Mathur said India is focused on expanding global tourism cooperation and strengthening international tourism exchanges. He said the country is working to attract more global tourists across segments including budget travel, cultural tourism, luxury tourism and conference-related travel through a welcoming tourism ecosystem.

The Consul General also highlighted India’s vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047,” stating that the country remains committed to increasing the contribution of tourism to national growth and development.

He further stressed the need to strengthen collaboration among hospitality brands, travel companies and tour operators across the region to deepen tourism partnerships and people-to-people exchanges.

ITB China is regarded as one of the region’s leading tourism and travel industry platforms focused on the Chinese travel market, bringing together global tourism boards, travel companies, hospitality brands, tour operators and industry stakeholders.

The 2026 edition of ITB China has expanded significantly, with organizers reporting a 20% increase in exhibition space and participation from more than 900 travel organizations and 1,700 buyers from across the global travel industry.
