United States Yogasana Federation makes India Day parade debut

The federation used the parade to promote Yogasana as a competitive sport.

The United States Yogasana Sports Federation participated in the India Day Parade in Manhattan, New York, marking a historic milestone in its efforts to promote Yogasana as a competitive sport in the United States.

The federation used the parade to promote Yogasana, physical fitness, health and wellness while celebrating India’s cultural heritage with the Indian American community.

Balwinder Singh, founder and president of the United States Yogasana Sports Federation, said the organization is committed to developing Yogasana as a structured, inclusive and accessible sport across the United States.

According to the organization, the United States Yogasana Sports Federation was the first U.S. organization dedicated to recognizing and developing Yogasana as a competitive sport and organizing structured Yogasana championships in the United States and North America.

The organization said its participation in the parade represents a step toward expanding Yogasana programs focused on sports, youth development, physical activity and community wellness.

The federation has been recognized as a National Youth Sports Strategy Champion by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. The federation aims to further develop Yogasana opportunities for participants across the country while promoting the discipline as a form of competitive sport and physical activity.
