Jackie Shroff brings a different kind of superhero to families worldwide
The Great Grand Superhero premieres on ZEE5 Global Aug. 21.

Jackie Shroff is stepping into the superhero world with a difference, without a cape, superpowers or larger-than-life action sequences.
The veteran actor stars as a grandfather at the heart of The Great Grand Superhero, a Hindi fantasy drama that premieres exclusively on KidZ on ZEE5 Global on August 21.
Directed by Manish Saini, the film follows Dipu, a young boy who struggles to make friends after his father’s transferable job moves the family to a new town. At his new school, Dipu tells his classmates that his grandfather is actually a superhero whose identity can only be known by children.

When the children become curious, the grandfather decides to play along, setting off an adventure where imagination and reality begin to blur.
For Shroff, the character offered an opportunity to explore a different kind of heroism — one rooted in kindness, imagination and the ability to make children believe in something bigger.
He said, "What I loved most about The Great Grand Superhero is its belief that wonder, kindness and imagination are not things we leave behind as we grow older. In many ways, they're the very things that help us navigate life. We live in a time when so much around us feels intense and uncertain, and that's why stories like this matter. They remind us to slow down, connect with each other, and see the world with a little more hope and curiosity. This film is filled with warmth, humour and heart, and playing a character who leads with love rather than cynicism was truly special for me. I'm happy that children can now experience this beautiful story with their families on Zee 5 Global”.
Director Saini said, "For me, The Great Grand Superhero has always been about holding on to a sense of wonder, no matter how old we get. The stories we hear, and share have a unique ability to spark hope, bring people closer, and remind us that the impossible may not be so impossible after all. While the film is playful and filled with adventure, it's really about the power of belief and the joy of seeing the world through fresh eyes. The film brings together Shroff with Prateik Babbar, Bhagyashree, Sharat Saxena and Mihir Godbole. It combines fantasy, humour and adventure with a story centered on the bond between grandparents and grandchildren.
